PRINCE GEORGE, DUKE OF KENT, 1902-1942

Prince George, Duke of Kent, was the fourth son and fifth child of King George V and Queen Mary (of Teck). He was granted arms in 1921, consisting of the royal arms of the United Kingdom differenced by a white label of three points, all charged with a blue anchor.

Prince George was admitted to the Order of the Garter in 1923 and so encircled his shield with the Garter.

The Duke served in the Royal Air Force during World War II and was killed on active service when his plane, en route to Iceland, crashed in Scotland.
