PRINCE EDWARD, DUKE OF KENT, b.1935

Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, is the elder son of Prince George, Duke of Kent, and the eldest grandson of King George V. He succeeded to the dukedom of Kent when he was only six year old.

As a grandchild of a sovereign, the Duke bears the royal arms differenced by a label of five points, alternately blue anchors and St.George's Crosses. His coronet contains alternate crosses patée and strawberry leaves.

The Duke has encircled his shield with the Garter since being admitted to the order in 1985. Prior to that, he used the insignia of the Order of St.Michael and St.George (1967-1985) and the Royal Victoria Order (1960-1967).
