PRINCE WILLIAM OF GLOUCESTER, 1941-1972

Prince William of Gloucester, was the elder son of Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester, and a grandson of King George V. As the elder son, Prince William was heir to his father's dukedom of Gloucester but he was killed while piloting a plane in a competition two years before his father's death.

As a grandchild of a sovereign, the Duke bears the royal arms differenced by a label of five points, alternately red lions and St.George's Crosses. His coronet contains alternate crosses patée and strawberry leaves.
