Gwilym Lloyd George was President of the Council of the University College of Swansea during the 1950s and early 60s.
Lord Tenby was the younger son of Prime Minister David Lloyd George and his first wife Margaret Owen. He served with distinction in the First World War and went on to become a Liberal MP for Pembrokeshire, serving in the governments of Ramsay Macdonald, Neville Chamberlain and Winston Churchill. After the Second World War he stood as a "National Liberal and Conservative" candidate and became politically estranged from the Liberal Party (including his sister Lady Megan). He served in the 1950s Conservative governments, rising to the post of Home Secretary and Minister for Welsh Affairs before retiring in 1957, when he was created Viscount Tenby.
Lord Tenby's coat of arms is identical to that of his more famous father except that a lion replaces his father's eagle as the sinister supporter, the collars on both supporters is compony white and green instead of plain green, and the collars have escutcheons (shields) hanging from them.
