Blazon

Shield: Argent, a lion rampant Sable collared and chained Or.

Crest: Argent, a lion rampant Sable collared and chained Or.

Motto: Ducit Amor Patriae (The love of my country leads me on).

The crest and motto appear in other Philipps arms but I am not yet certain that it is correct for this branch of the family. It is also possible that the collar should be a ducal coronet. The blazon of a simple collar comes from George Grant Francis.

Richard Mansel Philipps was a son of Sir William Mansel, 9th Bt., of Iscoed, Carmarthenshire, by Mary, daughter and eventual heiress of John Philipps of Coedgain. Richard became ehir to his mother's family and assumed the name and arms of Philipps.
