Diocese of Swansea and Brecon

Shield: Per fess Azure and Or, in chief surmounting a Catherine Wheel issuant an eagle rising reguardant of the second, and in base a fleur-de-lys of the first.

The Anglican diocese of Swansea and Brecon was established in 1923, three(?) years after the separation of the Church in Wales from the Church of England. Brecon Priory became its cathedral.

The coat of arms was granted in 1924. Any information as to its origin and meaning would be gratefully received!
