George Tennant (1765-1832) of Cadoxton was a Justice of the Peace and Deputy Lieutenant of Glamorgan and was responsible for building the Tennant Canal from the mouth of the River Tawe at Port Tennant Swansea, and its junction with the Neath Canal at Aberdulais. The canal no longer carries traffic but remains a source of water for local industry, provides a pleasant walk, and is important for nature conservation.
