Deheubarth

Blazon Shield: Gules, a lion rampant Or armed and langued Azure within a bordure engrailed of the second.

Deheubarth was the area of south and west Wales ruled by the House of Dynefor from around 920 to 1197, and consisted of the former kingdoms of Dyfed and Seisyllwg. The Kingdom of Brycheiniog was added later.

The arms of the Dynefor rulers consisted of a gold lion rampant on a red field within a gold engrailed border.

After the demise of Deheubarth as an independent realm, one of the Dynefor heiresses married into the Talbot family, and the Dynefor arms became the arms of the Talbots.
