The University of Wales Trinity St.David was established in 2010 by the merger of the University of Wales Lampeter (formerly St.David's University College) and Trinity University College in Carmarthen (under Lampeter's original 1828 charter).
The University came to Swansea when it merged in 2013 with Swansea Metropolitan University, which had been an independent university since 2008.
Swansea Metropolitan University was established in 2008 when Swansea Institute of Higher Education received its own degree-awarding powers as an independent university. The event was celebrated on XX 2008 at Brangwyn Hall, Swansea, during which XX, Lancaster Herald, presented the university with its new coat of arms.
